A New Way to Look At Step Four

I AM CREATING A NEW FUTURE!

Imagine it’s snowing outside.  The snow is drifting to the ground and changes the landscape.  It gets thicker and deep.  It hides everything, both beautiful and ugly.

Abandoned cars, garbage, flowers and gardens become vague shapes in the fields of endless white.  Now I have to wait until spring to find out what lies beneath the snow.  My past looks like that. I have buried my past underneath a thick snow blanket.  This lily white cover hides the good and the bad.  No new growth and healing can take place until spring comes.

I made up my mind this morning, that from today on I shall no longer be afraid of spring.  I will reveal my past, dig deep; I will remove the old debris and only reflect on the good memories there.  I will become a loving landscape artist; I will plant seeds, plant bushes and trees and encourage new growth.

This will be my rebirth.  I will create a healthy future by taking good care of myself and tending to my recovery.
