WHAT I'VE LEARNED

IN AL-ANON...SO FAR

What have I learned in Al-Anon?  That I’m not who I thought I was.
I thought my shame defined me as a person, but I came to see I was looking at it backwards. My shortcomings certainly exist, but are mostly habits, born of fears and misperceptions and reinforced by a family legacy of abuse and Alcoholism.
With work and the help of others and the grace of a Higher Power, little by little, I can discard those habits and be free to live a more authentic and satisfying life. This program enabled me for the first time in my life to see the love and light that shines at the very heart of me and reminds me who I truly am.
